Celebrating the small wins, too.

When I work with my clients, I always make sure we celebrate their wins. A win can be many things—big or small. Sometimes people think only a big achievement is something to be celebrated, but that is simply not the case. I had a client that celebrated making her bed every morning as a small win, because it set the tone for her day and allowed her to feel more organized, and her day ended up being more productive. Now that’s a win in my book. It’s important to celebrate the small wins, just like the big wins. We’re brought up celebrating the big wins like birthdays, graduations, and major holidays—and there’s nothing wrong with that, but just think of all the small wins that help us along the way. Those are important, too.

I’ve been a list person for as long as I can remember. I have work to-do lists on my desk and a grocery list always in motion. There were times I’d look at my list and only see the things I didn’t finish, which was discouraging and left me feeling unproductive. But then I realized my work list consisted of all the big wins and very few of the small wins. My work list didn’t include getting up early to walk the beach with my sweetheart, or eating healthy foods and juicing during the day. It also didn’t include reading inspiring books, or getting caught up with old friends. To me those are “wins” that are just as important, and I’ve learned, through time, to celebrate them too.

I’d like to share on of my favorite sayings, by Ester Abraham Hicks is:

Every time you appreciate something…

Every time you praise something…

Every time you feel good about something,

You are telling the universe…

More of this, PLEASE!!

It makes you think…right? What are you celebrating, appreciating, and praising in your life? Vincent van Gogh once said, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together,” and I believe that’s why valuing the small wins are key to living a life that has meaning and significance beyond measure. Enjoy celebrating your wins—of all sizes—today.
